Our Story

In Mark 2, we read of a paralyzed man in need of healing, who is unable to make his way to Jesus. Recognizing his need, four friends step in on behalf of the paralyzed man to get him the help he needs.

Some people arrived, and four of them were bringing to him a man who was paralyzed. They couldn’t carry him through the crowd, so they tore off part of the roof above where Jesus was. When they had made an opening, they lowered the mat on which the paralyzed man was lying. When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralytic, “Child, your sins are forgiven!” — Mark 2:3–5

In moments of crisis, educators and their families often lack the strength, clarity, or capacity to advocate for themselves. Like the paralyzed man, they need a community willing to see their need, carry their weight, and remove barriers—not with judgment, but with faith, courage, and compassion.

Hope Weavers exists to symbolically “carry the mat” by restoring hope, dignity, and peace through compassionate, faith-inspired care.

Our Founder’s Story

David Chavez is a former educator with more than two decades of experience serving students, families, and school communities across multiple roles, including special education resource teacher, department head, facilitator, and coach—primarily at the middle school level. His career was shaped not only by time in the classroom, but also by extensive service on district-level committees, systems improvement, and collaborative problem-solving. David also holds a master’s degree in Organizational Development, equipping him with a deep understanding of how healthy systems, strong leadership, and aligned culture create lasting impact. His journey took a profound turn when he experienced a personal medical crisis that ultimately required him to medically retire from education—an experience that revealed firsthand the gaps educators face when crisis strikes. That season became the catalyst for founding Hope Weavers, combining David’s professional expertise, lived experience, and calling to build a compassionate, structured network of care that surrounds educators and their families with dignity, excellence, and hope.
